About The Event:
Join us at John Burroughs Woodchuck Lodge to watch the Catskill Forest Association mill several black cherry logs using a bandsaw mill. Afterward, get a tour of this famous house where guests such as Henry Ford and Thomas Edison were entertained. This was the summer house of world famous Catskill Naturalist John Burroughs. You can bring a lunch, eat it on the porch or the picnic table, and take a hike on one of the many trails. Some unique woodwork items will be for sale. Some refreshments provided
About The Presenter:
Zane Lawyer, CFA's Program Manager, will be flat sawing black cherry logs and answering any questions folks have about the process. Black cherry heartwood contains a unique reddish color and grain participants will be able to see and feel first-hand. ***Hearing protection is recommended for watching the sawmill in action.***
